Sadly this means many modern gamers have only ever played a close approximation of the real deal a first-person shooter with RPG depth that’s exquisitely nerve-jangling throughout. Even GLaDOS, the manically bonkers artificial intelligence from Portal, owes a passing nod to System Shock 2. Unless you were fortunate enough to pick up the game shortly after its 1999 release your only experience of cowering on the Von Braun from unrelenting terror would likely be via Dead Space (which borrows wholesale form System Shock 2’s plot and design) or Bioshock, it’s frequently referenced spiritual successor. Until recently System Shock 2 had been one of those titles stuck in infernal legal limbo. Of course, this is an easy mistake for younglings to make. Snot-nosed kid: And where the plot is progressed through the random recordings left by the now dead crew? Snot-nosed kid: Where the crew landed on a planet only to bring something back with them, which has subsequently turned the crew into rampaging, deformed mutations of their former selves? Snot-nosed kid: Is the game set against the backdrop of a derelict spacecraft where everything is not as it seems? Snot-nosed kid: Do you feature weapon modifications and an inventory? Snot-nosed kid: Are you a survival horror?

With this unit and others to finish the base faster, one can win the fight without the boss even spawning. This can be very useful in stages such as Deathhawk, as the peons are strong but can be stalled for long periods of time. Since it can withstand many hits from peons and does little damage, it can easily stall the stage by clogging the enemy limit, buying time for the player to upgrade the Worker Cat before summoning more expensive cats. Tank Cat and its evolutions' very low attack power is useful in stages where only weak enemies appear at the beginning. Players can overcome this deficiency by combining Tank Cat and its Crazed counterpart and/or other fast moving, defensive units (like Riceball Cat) to fill any gaps and maintain a solid layer of defense. Conversely, it is rather slow, making it difficult to maintain a frontline shield if the battle zone is wide or if the cats are near the enemy base. Later on, thanks to Treasure and Research upgrades, Tank Cat's cooldown can reach the lowest possible length (2 seconds), allowing it to be as spammable as Cat and become a more effective layer of defense for the cat army. Its real strength is in the cheap cost and rapid recharge time which feeds a near continuous stream of replacements to the frontline when spammed.Įarly on, Tank Cat has a longer recharge time than Cat, so time them carefully to maximize their efficiency. Tank Cat's only purpose is to act as a shield, providing frontline protection for heavy hitters behind it, allowing them to utilize their range advantage. In order to classify Cat Units, see here Strategy/Usage And you lose a ton of speed in the process. Its only defining thing in survivability is probably the heal which heals 0.66% HP stock per second vs the standard 0.5% per second. And you have a cheek weakness which isn't Yamato prominent but its def there. Its waterline I think so its not as ez as hitting a flat Soyuz cit, but its not particularly hard either. The belt is decent, but cit is pretty big so you will hit it. Everything else pens your deck with HE and there is a ton of everything else. Big bow and stern leads to more HE penetrating there, 38mm helps you vs HE of standard and IFHE CLs, Standard CA, and DDs that aren't the German heavy DDs (Elbing line) or some reckless guy with IFHE specced German DD (Z-52 line). 9 guns isn't special, and they are decently accurate at range. But it can overmatch quite a few cruisers. I have the Colorado from that mission last patch so I only have to grind through her (which I don’t like, being a speed demon)… I know people think highly of NC too, but Iowa is the one I am curious about.ġ6 inch guns are now the standard caliber for T9. I don’t understand the latter in particular as at least on paper she seems quite strong: 9 16inch guns (that are accurate at range?), good armour, high speed, etc… what exactly is weak? I enjoy fast battleships and like the Iowa class (they look nice), so she has been on my wish list for a while. I have heard mixed things about her, some seem to think she is good while others seem to suggest she has been power crept. |
